Tattoo Aftercare

Day of The Tattoo
Before leaving the studio, we will make sure to wrap the fresh tattoo with a standard taped-on bandage or medical-grade adhesive film. After 2 to 4 hours, take off the bandage and rinse the tattoo with clean water and unscented soap. Do not re-bandage.Days 2-7
In this stage you may notice redness,oozing, swelling, or a burning sensation—This is normal. Shower with your new tattoo once a day, making sure to not soak it in water for long periods of time. Keep your tattoo DRY and clean by moisturizing only after showers and wearing loose clothes.Weeks 2-4
During this time, you may experience flaking and itching as your tattoo dries out—it is very important that you do not scratch or pick at your skin. To ease itching, you may slightly pat on the area or apply a small amount of A+D ointment (on clean skin only!). Be patient with your healing and maintain your aftercare routine.

• Leave initial bandage for 2-4 hours (do not re-bandage).
• Gently wash with warm water and mild, unscented soap until tattoo is no longer slimy.
• Use clean bare hands to wash, and use paper towels to dry.
• After washing, apply a thin layer of Vitamin A&D ointment or any mild unscented lotion (We recommend Aveeno or Lubriderm!)
• Wash regularly as you would wash any other part of your body.
• Remember, a fresh tattoo is an open wound! Treat it as such.
• If possible, wear loose-fitting cotton clothes over your tattoo while it heals.
• DON'T expose your tattoo to sunlight for long periods of time.
• DON'T touch, scratch, or pick at your tattoo.
• DON'T use aloe vera, alcohol, or petroleum-based products.
• DON'T over moisturize. Less is more!
• DON'T soak your tattoo in any body of water.
• For any signs of bubbling or infections, contact us or your healthcare provider right away.

Touch-ups

If you take proper care of your tattoo as per the instructions above, you’ll have a healthy tattoo which will not require any touch-ups. However, if you require a touch-up, we are more than happy to take another look at your tattoo!
